VIDEO: This Ridiculous Jimmy Wynn Home Run Proves What a Beast He Was
By Jerry Trotta

On top of Opening Day being postponed, baseball fans were dealt another crushing blow on Thursday when the Houston Astros announced that legend Jimmy Wynn had passed away at the age of 78. Wynn played most of his home games at the Astrodome, a colossal stadium that undoubtedly crippled his raw power. When the former three-time All-Star was on the road, however, he took advantage of the hitter-friendly confines. Check out Wynn absolutely obliterating a home run over the towering scoreboard at Crosley Field and onto the Cincinnati freeway:
This Jimmy Wynn home run over the biggest scoreboard you'll ever see is preposterous. RIP to the Toy Cannon. pic.twitter.com/AgYI9iruhT

My goodness. If only we were treated to the measurables of that moonshot.
Wynn clobbered 291 home runs across his 15 seasons in the MLB. It goes without saying that only a few, if any, were more memorable than this sky-scraper.
It is with the heaviest of hearts that I pass along the news that Jimmy Wynn passed away today. He was 78 years old.

My favorite Astro.
Wynn hit .250/.366/.436 with 964 RBI, 1,105 runs scored, 225 stolen bases, and 1,665 hits in his career. In other words, the Toy Cannon was a bonafide beast of a baseball player.
Thanks for the memories, Wynn.
Our thoughts and prayers are with his loved ones during this time.
