Ripping Yankee Fans for Booing Manny Machado is the Softest Take of All Time

Rip Yankee fans for going all, "27 Rings, bro!" whenever they get a chance.

Rip Yankee fans for being fairweather, showing up to the glorified palace in the Bronx, Instagramming themselves with state-of-the-art milkshakes, and failing to pay attention to the game.

But now, we're ripping them for...being too passionate? That's an embarrassing new wrinkle to this game. Mike Mazzeo, who used to be a Yankees Daily News reporter, and is no longer, fired off this exceptionally snooze-worthy take on Monday afternoon.

Yankee fans, who've had this series circled all year long waiting to let Machado know they didn't appreciate his big money deal with San Diego, are apparently now not allowed to boo their opponents' best player's only visit to the Bronx. A years-long enemy of the Yanks, Machado's asking price wasn't within range of the Bombers' wishes this offseason.

Now, they've got Gio Urshela. They're doing fine. And they wanted to let him know. Apparently, that's unacceptable, too.

Whether the team actually tendered Machado a contract or not is irrelevant. The two parties wined and dined each other, New York made a large offer that they were comfortable with, and Machado, despite wanting to be a Yankee, took an extra $100 million to go West. Some wouldn't do that. Others would. That should, by no means, impact New York's ability to razz him.

Mazzeo, who now has to buy his own ticket to get into these games, you'd think, seems to have a problem with whatever Yankee fans do, whether it's getting worked up, bragging, cowering, staying relaxed, forgetting to watch the game, or watching the game too hard. Shame he's no longer a beat writer for this inspiring crew, huh?

Getting riled up about Yankee fans disliking their opponent is a new low. If you fall in line with this bad faith take, you're showing your true colors: you don't like the Yankees, their fans, or anything they'll ever do.
