Robert Saleh's Latest Comments Show He's Scared of the Chiefs Offense
By Michael Luciano
Patrick Mahomes, Andy Reid and the Kansas City Chiefs currently sport the most exciting passing offense in all of football, as they have speed and, more importantly, production up and down their depth chart. San Francisco 49ers defensive coordinator Robert Saleh knows this, and even he seems a bit nervous about planning for all those weapons on offense.
He made that much clear leading up to the big game.
Kansas City's wide receiver room does look like they'd be more at home running the 100 meters than running corner routes given the emphasis on speed.
With Tyreek Hill once again changing the way defenses have to play because of his speed, Travis Kelce emerging as potentially the best tight end in the game, and rookie Mecole Hardman showing off his blazing pace regularly, it's no wonder the Chiefs have the most vertical offense in the league.
This assemblage of talent is a credit to the job GM Brett Veach has done of finding talent in the draft.
The 49ers pride themselves on aggressive zone blitzes, as only the Los Angeles Chargers played more zone than San Francisco this year. The problem for Saleh is that Kansas City has more than enough zone busters on offense.
It's strength on strength in what should be a captivating chess match between Saleh and Eric Bieniemy. The Super Bowl can't get here soon enough.
