Robinson Canó Has Ridiculous Excuse for Not Running Out Double Play Ball
By Jared Kish

Mets second basemen Robinson Canó is one of the best of all-time at his position, but is also known for playing the game a little too nonchalantly at times. His laid back approach came back to haunt him last night against the Marlins.
In the seventh inning of last night's game Canó hit a soft ground ball back to Miami pitcher Adam Conley, for what looked to be a pretty standard double play. The two outs were made a little easier when Canó decided he wasn't going to run down the first base line.

What was Robbie's reason for not running to first? Well, according to manager Mickey Callaway, Canó said the scoreboard at the stadium displayed that there were two outs in the inning. He claims not to have ran because he thought the inning was over after the out at second base.
Mickey on Cano: "“He came up proactively on his own and came up to me, the board said two outs, he thought there were two outs at the time, and he understands no matter what the board said, he needs to understand how many outs there are.”

Even if the scoreboard had displayed two outs, Canó, a 15-year veteran, should have known how many outs there were in the inning, especially given the fact that he was up at the plate.
Canó apologized to his manager after the game, but its not a good look for him on a struggling Mets team, especially in the midst of a loss to the Marlins, the worst team in baseball.
