Robinson Cano is Batting Third Again for Mets on Tuesday and That's Absurd
By Sean Facey

There's nothing that screams "Mets" quite like sticking with a broken system.
Robinson Cano is batting third yet again for the Mets as they continue to embrace the definition of insanity.

Cano has yet to prove that he's capabale of batting at that spot in the order this year. Through 54 games, he's slashing .223/.270/.361 with just four home runs and 16 runs batted.
Add in the fact that he's severely lacking in hustle and it almost seems as though manager Mickey Callaway keeps batting him there to spite the fans and the media, and you've got the perfect recipe for a Mets Nonsense Souffle.
It would be one thing if he was giving it his all and not seeing results. The problem is he's not. He practically walks down to first base on ground balls. He's yet to hit a home run with runners in scoring position this year.

Every possible measure of his production is proof that he shouldn't be batting so high in the order.
Yet there he is, batting third, playing second base.
Callaway has even gone so far as to say that this year's performance isn't a large enough sample size to bump him down in the lineup.

It's no wonder that the Mets are struggling this year. Callaway isn't putting out lineups based on performance, he's creating them on potential, and it's costing the team dearly with each passing game.
