Rockets' Introductory Press Conference for Russell Westbrook Will Be Bizarrely Small
By Scott Rogust
The NBA world was abuzz on Wednesday following the Los Angeles Clippers' introductory press conference for Kawhi Leonard and Paul George. From owner Steve Ballmer hyped out of his mind, to Leonard performing his signature laugh, the presser had it all.
Don't expect the same for Russell Westbrook's introduction with the Houston Rockets.
According to the Rockets press release, the conference will be closed to the public on Friday, with just Westbrook and general manager Daryl Morey in attendance.
No pomp and circumstance. No Rockets fans to cheer their new recruit. No James Harden. Just a small, straightforward press conference open to the media and media alone.
In case you might have missed the plethora of Woj Bombs the past month, Westbrook worked with the Oklahoma City Thunder on a trade after the team moved Paul George to the Clippers. After meeting with Thunder brass, the team sent Westbrook to his preferred destination in Houston.
With the Rockets forming the next power duo in the NBA with Westbrook and Harden, they won't go the flashy and fun route that the Clippers opted for on Wednesday. For them, it's all business.
