Rockies GM Claims Nolan Arenado is off the Table in Trade Talks
By Jerry Trotta
The trade rumors surrounding Colorado Rockies superstar third baseman Nolan Arenado have really piled up over the last month or so.
Well, you can go ahead and punt any hope that you held out in regards to your favorite club potentially acquiring the generational talent.
On Monday, Rockies general manager Jeff Bridich disclosed that Arenado is no longer on the trade market. The reasoning behind the settlement? With Spring Training looming, Bridich wants to move forward without any distractions.
"With the season coming up and spring training on the horizon, we are going to start focusing on that," Bridich told the Denver Post. "We have listened to teams regarding Nolan and really nothing has come of it. We are going to move forward pretty much as we expected -- with Nolan in the purple and black and as our third baseman."
“So we can put this to bed and collectively look forward to the upcoming season and work toward that.”
Well, there you have it.
This will be a bitter pill to swallow for fans of the clubs most heavily linked to Arenado -- the Cardinals, Braves, and most recently, the Rangers.
For now, or at least until the July trade deadline, it seems like the five-time All-Star will continue calling Coors Field his home.
