VIDEO: Rockies GM Jeff Bridich Refusing to Comment on Nolan Arenado Situation Makes it Sound Like Things Are Bad
By Michael Luciano
The Colorado Rockies and superstar third baseman Nolan Arenado are currently freezing each other out after the team floated the transcendent third baseman in trade talks. Rockies GM Jeff Bridich tried his best to put it in the past, but his standoffish answer to a question about Arenado hasn't done much to show that the two parties have totally made up or that things won't come to a head (in terms of an Arenado trade) before this year's deadline.
Sounds like things are going great over in Denver.
Arenado has been one of the top 10 players in all of baseball over the last half-decade, both offensively and defensively, where he is among the best at any position in the field. The Rockies rewarded his performance with a contract that made him the highest-paid third baseman in league history.
However, after just one season in which the Rockies regressed and failed to make the postseason, the team already fired up the Arenado trade rumors when reports of discussions with other teams surfaced.
Arenado has proven he's a generational talent, but a team that's struggling to say relevant has for some reason decided to irritate the best player the franchise has seen since Todd Helton. That baffling organizational decision has made things pretty glum in Colorado.
