Roger Clemens spent time with both the New York Yankees and the Houston Astros during his MLB career. The same is now true for Gerrit Cole, who signed a record deal with the Yankees after a great run in Houston, and is on the verge of trying out a "reverse Clemens" (though Rog did return to the NYY from Houston in '07).

Cole is looking to put up Clemens-like numbers in the Bronx, so TMZ caught up with Rocket to ask what he thinks about the new ace in town. Spoiler Alert: He's as excited as you are.

Clemens admitted Houston is going to miss Cole, but believes the pitcher will do just fine handling the rigors of New York. High praise from one of the best pitchers of the past few decades.

Cole has a long way to go to reach any of Clemens' marks. The new Yankee has only been in the league for seven seasons. Clemens pitched in 24 MLB seasons up until his mid-forties. Clemens also won seven Cy Young Awards, while Cole is seeking his first.

Clemens also added how Cole is a great person off the field as well. Just a ton of praise that will have Yankees fans excited and Yankees haters bemoaning another star heading to New York.
