One of the iconic voices of the Mets is set to return to the booth.
Beloved analyst and former World Champion Ron Darling has announced that he's been medically cleared to return to New York Mets broadcasts, following a leave of absence to battle the onset of thyroid cancer.
The former Mets star said Monday that, "My doctors have informed me that my thyroid cancer has been stabilized for now and that I have been cleared to return to work."
"I look forward to rejoining my partners Gary and Keith in the SNY booth to call tomorrow night's Mets vs. San Francisco Giants game at Citi Field," he continued in his statement via Twitter.
The 58-year-old had to leave the booth in the middle of April for surgery on a mass in his chest, before it was later revealed that he had thyroid cancer.
Darling has worked with SNY since 2006. He currently broadcasts games alongside Gary Cohen and Keith Hernandez.
He also covers playoff baseball for TBS, a network he joined back in 2008.
The baseball world is glad to know that Darling is well enough to return to calling the game for fans everywhere. It's about time!
