VIDEO: Ronaldo Souza Was Very Close to Other UFC Fighters Before Testing Positive for Coronavirus
By Jerry Trotta
The UFC will provide a sense of normalcy for quarantined sports fans when it makes its comeback on Saturday night .However, the latest development is a terrible look for president Dana White, who guaranteed that fighters and officials would adhere to the CDC's social distancing guidelines leading up to UFC 249. Ronaldo Souza, who was scheduled to square up against Uriah Hall in a middleweight bout, was removed from the card after he tested positive for COVID-19. A video has surfaced which shows the 40-year-old alarmingly close to a group of fighters before he was diagnosed. Souza even made contact with one competitor.
That clip proves that Jacaré, nor any of the individuals in that room, are making it a priority to keep within six feet of one another. Souza and two of his cornermen tested positive, and all three were determined to be asymptomatic. It's been known for months now the sheer danger of this virus lies in the fact that you can be carrying it without knowing it.
To call this careless on the part of Souza and the entire UFC would be understatement, and fans deserve an explanation.
