Rookie QB Drew Lock Already Holding Out is a Really Bad Sign for the Broncos
By Parker White
The Denver Broncos report for training camp today, as they will play the Atlanta Falcons in the annual Hall of Fame Game in Canton and have the opportunity to begin camp early. However, they'll be without rookie quarterback Drew Lock, who is holding out because he wants a "quarterback premium," per Adam Schefter.
Lock is a second-round pick and not even a serious candidate to start for the Broncos. So, why should Denver give him a so-caleld "premium" when he hasn't even played an NFL game?
Lock is represented by Creative Artists Agency, an organization known for driving a hard bargain on rookie contracts, but this is absurd. You have to imagine that the Broncos and Lock will come together on some sort of deal, but their relationship isn't getting off on the right track.
Obviously, Denver wants him to succeed, but can you imagine what negotiations will be like if he establishes himself as an upper-echelon quarterback? It would be a nightmare. But for now, it's just a terrible look that risks disrupting the natural order at Mile High.
