Royals Agree to Terms With No. 2 Overall Pick Bobby Witt Jr.

The new era in Kansas City is underway, with 2019 No. 2 overall pick Bobby Witt Jr. at the center of it all.
Witt has agreed with the Royals on a $7,789,900 contract.
The son of former Texas Rangers right handed starter Bobby Witt Sr., who was selected third overall in the 1985 draft out of Oklahoma and won 142 games over 16 seasons, Witt Jr. is a power-hitting shortstop out of Colleyville High School in Colleyville, Texas.
With power to all fields and terrific bat control for a high school senior, Witt Jr. is putting up video game numbers against those poor high school pitchers who have to face him.
With a slick glove, plus speed, and a howitzer for a right arm, Witt Jr. is the total package, as far as a franchise shortstop is concerned. He's even reached Patrick Mahomes' level of hype in Kansas City, well ahead of schedule.
He might need to marinate in the minors for a few years, but Witt is as low-floor as they come and should be on track for a long, prosperous MLB future. And it all starts now.
