The Kansas City Royals' pitchers and catchers will report to Spring Training today, but one familiar face will not make his debut at 2020 Royals camp until Friday.

Longtime left-handed starter Danny Duffy confirmed that he will not be in camp for its start date, as he will be attending memorial services for his late grandmother.

Duffy survived a turbulent offseason in Kansas City, but remained on the Royals roster. He went 7-6 with a 4.34 ERA in Ned Yost's final year as manager.

Duffy, who has said he was willing to pitch out of the bullpen, is one of the most experienced hurlers for what should be a pretty green Kansas City team Mike Matheny was handed in his first year at the helm.

Our thought and prayers go out to the Duffy family, and we wish Danny the best of luck as he prepares for his 10th MLB season with the Royals.
