By Ian Anderson

A Kansas City Royals' icon is officially becoming a citizen of the United States, and the team decided to give him his own ceremony at their FanFest this coming weekend.
Salvador Perez will officially become a US Citizen on Friday, and what better way is there to celebrate than with the fans who have adored him for the past nine years?
The Kansas City Royals just announced that they'll hold a special ceremony on Friday at FanFest for Salvador Perez. After passing an exam this past month, Salvy will become a U.S. citizen. That's big time.

Such a celebration shows how important Salvy has been for the Royals organization, and now they're showing their gratitude.
Perez passed the exam to become a citizen earlier this month and his citizenship ceremony will be one of the events to open up the Royals' FanFest this year.

Despite missing the entire 2019 season due to injuries, the 2015 World Series MVP is looking forward to getting his 2020 campaign underway.
At only 29 years old, Perez has plenty of time to turn things around for a Royals team that finished with the fourth-worst record in all of baseball last season.
