Russell Wilson Hopeful Seahawks Will Add More Superstar Talent This Offseason
By Jerry Trotta
The Seattle Seahawks, thanks to Russell Wilson's superpowers, pieced together a strong 2019 campaign, though they fell to the Packers in the Divisional Round of the playoffs.
After an 11-5 season, the Seahawks have some areas they need to address in the offseason. While Wilson is otherworldly, even he can't overcome the deficiencies on Seattle's roster and coaching staff.
So, it comes as no surprise that the six-time Pro Bowler is holding out hope that the franchise's brass is aggressive as it pertains to pursuing superstars this offseason.
"I think we need a couple more (players)," Wilson told ESPN, via Bob Condotta of the Seattle Times. "I think we need a couple more. Jadeveon Clowney is a big-time guy that we would love to get back on our football team. He was so good in the locker room. Hopefully, we can get a few other players there on the defense. Then also on offense, we have a great offense, but I think we can always add more pieces. Free agency is very, very key to getting those superstars on your team and try to get great players that can fill the space."
That's a fearless statement from Wilson, but it's equally revealing. He knows that the Seahawks have business to attend to if they want to be viewed as genuine Super Bowl contenders.
Whether it be at receiver, offensive/defensive line, or secondary (or all of the above), Wilson is hopeful that significant acquisitions will be made.
