Russell Wilson Owns His Painfully Wrong 2012 NFL Draft Doubters With One Inspirational Tweet
By Sam Dunn
Remember when Russell Wilson was totally going to be a baseball player? His desire to be a two-sport athlete helped push him out the door at North Carolina State, and despite a terrific final season as a Wisconsin Badger in 2011, there were serious doubts about how he projected as a pro -- and whether he should even bother going the NFL route at all.
Fast-forwarding to now, the Seahawks QB is a Super Bowl champ, a perennial MVP contender, a seven-time Pro Bowler, and bound for the Hall of Fame. And with the 2020 NFL Draft now upon us, what better time is there for DageRuss to reminisce about all the haters who brushed all his talent and promise aside?
Mmmm. That's gotta feel good.
Wilson's story is the kind we can all get behind, but especially if you're a quarterback like Jalen Hurts or Jake Fromm who enters the draft facing similar doubts about your toolbox and long-term viability as an NFL signal-caller.
Whoa, dude!
While neither Fromm nor Hurts is going to marry Ciara, they each have a chance to break the mold and own the haters just like Mr. Wilson did. If and when they do, they're going to have a hoot of a time looking back at all the so-called experts who shoved them aside.
