Russell Wilson Should Kick Down GM John Schneider's Door After Seahawks Let Germain Ifedi Sign With Bears
By Thomas Carannante

Russell Wilson needs more protection, it's plain and simple. However, aside from the Duane Brown trade with the Houston Texans, the Seattle Seahawks continue to make patchwork moves to improve the offensive line. The signing of Chance Warmack, who didn't play at all in 2019, is a prime example of that.
And now, general manager John Schneider has let tackle Germain Ifedi walk in free agency. The veteran is signing with the Chicago Bears.
Former #Seahawks OL Germain Ifedi is signing a 1-year deal with the #Bears, source said. The former first-rounder gets a fresh start and may play guard in Chicago.

We're not going to sit here and tell you Ifedi is an otherworldly talent, but one thing we know to be crucial in the NFL is continuity along the offensive line. If the 25-year-old signed a one-year deal with the Bears, why would the Seahawks not bring him back for at least 2020, especially after letting George Fant go to the New York Jets?
Ifedi was certainly underwhelming to an extent after being selected in the first round back in 2016, but he missed just four games in his first four NFL seasons and was versatile in Seattle, having logged ample reps at both guard and tackle.

The Seahawks added Warmack, BJ Finney and Cedric Ogbuehi in free agency this offseason, but none of them are home run signings, which is exactly why Wilson should be livid with what the front office is doing. Why not just keep Ifedi and swing a trade for Trent Williams?
This team needs Wilson to have time in the pocket as well as maintain a stout rushing offense, and while these moves could help, it's more likely they'll contribute to more of a work-in-progress situation.
Wilson deserves much better than that.
