Ryan Braun Compliments Christian Yelich With Subtly Heartbreaking Quote About His Hall of Fame Chances

Christian Yelich's new contract was a huge victory for the Milwaukee Brewers. He is in town for the next decade and can be the face of the franchise for that entire time. And what's more: he's absolutely thrilled to be there.
Ryan Braun was once the face of the franchise, prior to the infamous PED allegations that tainted the career of the 2011 National League MVP. Braun remains with the Brewers and offered up a compliment of Yelich that also served as a sad reflection on his own career.
#Brewers Ryan Braun on Christian Yelich: “He’s one of the best players in the game. Obviously I’m not going to the Hall of Fame. He has a real chance to be the next Brewer to be a Hall of Famer.”

Braun was the NL Rookie of the Year in 2007 and made the All-Star Game every year from 2008-2012. He also took home a Silver Slugger Award every year in that five-year span.
Now he is more of a veteran leader as Yelich takes over as the star of the team, but Braun thinks there is no player better suited to next represent Milwaukee in Cooperstown.
Christian Yelich figures he told only a half-dozen people about contract talks with the Brewers. One of them was Ryan Braun. "He was a big part of this."https://t.co/8XSMQVwIWU

Braun's career mark of 344 home runs, even without PED use, may not be enough to make him a sure Hall of Famer. Yet he knows his reputation will keep him out considering the stats just aren't good enough to overcome. Now he can fully embrace his role to make sure Yelich becomes the star Milwaukee needs him to be.
For some it would be a tough pill to swallow, but Braun seems to have come to terms with the fact that Yelich's star shines a bit brighter.
