Ryan Pace is Kidding Himself if He Really Believes Mitch Trubisky and Nick Foles Are in an 'Open Competition'
By Mark Powell

Chicago Bears GM Ryan Pace is creating our headlines for us.
Da Bears architect is painting their acquisition of the highly-priced Nick Foles as Mitchell Trubisky insurance, but he's not fooling anyone. Foles' exorbitant price tag -- totaling $24 million over the next three years with $21 million guaranteed (and more in incentives) after the Jaguars paid him $30 million for one season of action doesn't lend itself to that idea, as much as Pace would like the media to run with it in hopes of motivating Trubisky.
Ryan Pace: We were able to dig in on FA, make the Bears a better football team. I can tell you right now, we're ready for everything. Quarterback position. It's been a focus for us. We've talked to both players, and they way we view this, IT'S AN OPEN COMPETITION.

This is more about Pace being unable to come to terms with one of the worst NFL Draft decisions in recent memory, in which the Bears traded the Nos. 3, 67, 111 picks and a third-round selection the next year to move up one slot to take an unproven signal-caller out of North Carolina.
Even better? Pace passed on the likes of Patrick Mahomes and Deshaun Watson, both of whom are tearing up the league, while the Bears remain one competent QB away from Super Bowl contention.
Nick Foles does shit like this and we make excuses for Mitch not being unable to complete a slant pass pic.twitter.com/24PX8nFyn2

The Khalil Mack trade does not make up for that buffoonery. Only Foles can, but that requires some serious introspection from Pace before it's made public.
