Saints Absolutely Need to Give Alvin Kamara the Ball as Much as Possible Against Cowboys
By Jerry Trotta
It goes without saying that teams who flaunt otherworldly superstars should gameplan to feed them as much as possible each week.
Sean Payton and the New Orleans Saints, however, didn't necessarily embrace this strategy as it pertains to Alvin Kamara during Week 2's loss to the Rams. The Pro-Bowl tailback touched the pigskin just 14 times (13 rushes, one reception) in the contest, and Nola ultimately fell 27-9.
In their other two games (both W's) AK logged over 20 touches. In fact, when the Tennessee product gets the ball that many times, the Saints are undefeated with a perfect 8-0 record.
If New Orleans doesn't deploy the "feed Kamara" scheme next Sunday night against the Dallas Cowboys, well, then they are straight up moronic.
How many pundits predicted the Saints, minus Drew Brees and deploying an inexperienced Teddy Bridgewater under center, would walk into Seattle on Sunday and come away with convincing win against a playoff-aspirational Seahawks squad? Not many. But Payton called Kamara's name time and time again, as he should, and New Orleans rolled.
The 24-year-old stud rushed 16 times for 69 yards and one touchdown, while adding 12 receptions for 90 yards and an additional score. This should be the case each and every week.
If the Saints stand a chance at defeating the Cowboys, one of the NFL's best teams through the first three weeks, they must pepper their superstar RB with touches.
The stats and eye test back it up.
