Saints Back NFL in Fans' Lawsuit Related to Terrible NFC Championship Game Call
By James.r

There has been significant backlash in the wake of the 2018 NFC Championship Game, as the New Orleans Saints were the victim of one of the worst blown calls in the history of the NFL that may have cost them a Super Bowl appearance. As a direct result, the league implemented the new pass interference challenge, hoping it will bring an end to the type of officiating blunder that was the talk of the football world.
As a result of their disappointment, disgruntled Saints fans have brought forth numerous federal lawsuits in a ludicrous attempt to hold the NFL accountable. Now, the organization has finally taken a side in the legal matter.

As any reasonable fan could have expected, the team is backing the NFL, advocating that the plaintiffs drop their case and arguing that legal action is not the proper course of action for remedying the team's misfortune. While they made sure to get their jabs in at the league's officials in their statement, the club contended that if this case made any legal headway, it would set a dangerous precedent for future dissatisfied fans, of which there are sure to be many.
The Saints are absolutely right to side with the league in this case. Regardless of how egregious a mistake was made by the referees, there is no way to prove there was malicious intent on the part of the officials. As the statement points out, it is the job of the Saints to defend their best interest, and "non-participant spectators... may not take up that mantel."

Sorry, Saints die-hards: it looks like a rule change is the best reparation you'll get. But, hey, a new football season is right around the corner.
