Drew Brees to Miss 6 Weeks Following Thumb Surgery
By Sam Dunn

The New Orleans Saints saw their season take a significant turn Sunday when Drew Brees' throwing hand met the immovable object that is Rams defensive lineman Aaron Donald. The future Hall of Fame quarterback didn't return to the game, and was subsequently seen being unable to grip a football.
Now, proper bad news has been handed down. Brees has a torn ligament in his thumb and will be forced to undergo surgery, as reported by Ian Rapoport.
#Saints QB Drew Brees has a torn ligament in his throwing thumb and he’s going to require surgery, sources say. The timeframe depends on the surgery, but he’s likely out 6 weeks. That’s the initial estimate.

Six weeks is a long, long time if you're talking about one of the greatest offensive players in the history of the NFL. That means it's Teddy Bridgewater time under center in New Orleans-- and likely quite a lot of Taysom Hill, as well.
Brees threw just five passes in the game, and didn't even make it two full drives before his unfortunate exit. The usually potent Saints offense never got going, and the Rams ended up taking a 27-9 victory.

Week 3: @ #Seahawks
Week 4: #Cowboys (SNF)
Week 5: #Bucs
Week 6: @ #Jaguars
Week 7: @ #Bears
Week 8: #Cardinals
Week 9: Bye

And now, things only get tougher for Sean Payton's team. Fingers crossed that Brees is right back to being his normal self in a month and a half.
