Saints Hopeful to Agree to New Contract With Drew Brees Before Start of New League Year

Drew Brees recently announced his intention to return in 2020. That means a return to the New Orleans Saints once a new deal gets done.
The team and Brees have still not reached an agreement, but GM Mickey Loomis reportedly wants to get one done soon -- specifically by the start of the new league year.

Brees is not going to end up playing elsewhere, and any suggestion to the contrary is ludicrous. It would just be best for both sides to get a deal done as soon as possible so the Saints can start the process of building the rest of the team for the 2020 season.

Brees announcing his return was the first step. Getting him signed is next, but it is hard to imagine the Saints trying to lowball him in any way. He has all the leverage in the situation as the team needs him to return to remain Super Bowl contenders in 2020.
