Saints Connecting With Jordan Love Says All You Need to Know About Taysom Hill
By Michael Luciano
Taysom Hill might be the New Orleans Saints' No. 2 quarterback nominally, but the team don't seem sold on him as a potential Drew Brees deputy, as they are monitoring many of the 2020 NFL Draft's top quarterback prospects.
One player the Saints especially have their eye on is former Utah State quarterback Jordan Love, who has done a video interview with the team over the last few weeks.
Anyone who tries to compare Love and Hill as passers is never allowed to talk football again, as Love is in a different galaxy talent-wise as compared to Hill.
Love regressed in a major way last season, as most of his top skill position players left or graduated, while Air Raid head coach Matt Wells departed for Texas Tech. The new coaching staff did little to play to Love's strengths, and he proceeded to throw 17 interceptions this year.
Having said that, there is a lot to like in Love as a prospect, even if he is raw form in post-snap reading department. His arm talent will make your jaw drop, his mobility in and out of the pocket is a plus, and his deep accuracy is among the best in the entire draft class.
You couldn't pick a better situation for Love to be drafted in than New Orleans. He can get coached out of his bad habits by Sean Payton and Drew Brees, and he'll have the QB1 job gift-wrapped for him when Brees retires or they feel he's ready. Love could give the Saints another decade of stability at that position if his development is handled correctly.
