Saints' Michael Thomas and Dolphins' DeVante Parker Get in Heated Back-and-Forth on Instagram
By Michael Luciano
Miami Dolphins receiver DeVante Parker must feel pretty frisky after his standout 2019 season, as he doesn't even fear one of the game's best offensive weapons.
After implying that it is easier to break up a pass intended for New Orleans Saints receiver Michael Thomas than catch one against New England Patriots corner Stephon Gilmore, Parker locked horns with Thomas, as both of them exchanged very personal insults.
You have to admire Parker for having the chutzpah to take on arguably the best receiver in football, but Parker lost all leverage in this beef when he implied he would be as good as Thomas with the same amount of targets.
Thomas received 47 more targets. However, Parker nabbed a solid 72 catches for 1,202 yards on an offense devoid of playmakers. On a stacked Saints team, Thomas became the first wide receiver since Jerry Rice to win Offensive Player of the Year, all the while breaking Marvin Harrison's record for catches in a season with 149.
If we can offer one bit of criticism to Thomas, maybe don't have rabbit ears and pick up on every semi-diss on social media? Just a thought.
Parker put up a valiant effort in this beef coming off of his breakout season, but given his logic and powerful closing retort, we have to give Thomas the victory.
