Saints WR Michael Thomas Calls Out Tony Romo's Huge Contract With CBS When Referencing NFL CBA
Tony Romo is one happy man right now. On Friday, news broke that he agreed to a monster new contract with CBS and will be making $17 million per year. Yup, simply an insane amount of dough he's going to be bringing home.
While the Romo household is ecstatic and looking through yacht catalogs, the same can't be said for countless NFL players. New Orleans Saints star WR Michael Thomas came to the defense of his fellow beers and said he thinks it's absurd Romo will be making more than a large chunk of guys in the league.
Tell us how you really feel, Michael. Thomas is in the middle of a five-year, $100 million contract, but he's clearly looking out for his gridiron brothers right now.
While Romo is one of the best announcers out there, providing outstanding context during games, you can understand why vets in the NFL might be upset. For him to make way more money while guys are putting their bodies on the line on the field doesn't make a whole lot of sense ... even though deals for broadcasters don't have anything to do with the league.
The latest talks surrounding the CBA have alluded to many things, but this is perhaps the first time a deal for a broadcaster has been mentioned as a reason for players to be infuriated.
