Saints WR Michael Thomas Appears to Respond to Drew Brees' Anthem Protest Comments With Angry Tweets
By Scott Rogust
The New Orleans Saints enter the 2020 season as one of the odds on favorites to represent the NFC in Super Bowl LV. However, it appears that there might be some trouble in paradise. And by paradise, we mean the locker room.
With protests taking place across the nation following the death of George Floyd, many pointed to former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick kneeling during the national anthem to raise awareness for racial inequality and police brutality back in 2016. When asked his opinion on the potential return of anthem kneeling this upcoming season, Saints quarterback Drew Brees said that any player who performs that action is "disrespecting the flag."
Shortly after his quote went public, Brees' top receiver Michael Thomas appeared to angrily subtweet his signal caller.
Oh man.
Thomas wasn't done after that. Fifteen minutes later, he vaguely said he doesn't care care if anyone doesn't agree with the peaceful protest.
When it comes to the ongoing protests, many have voiced their displeasure about the rioting and looting that took place in select communities. Some have wrongfully placed those disgusting actions on those who are peacefully demonstrating, instead of the outsiders who are deliberately trying to take away from the narrative for the sake of destruction.
Thomas, like many others, point out the hypocrisy of those very same individuals who complained about Kaepernick and various other NFL players peacefully kneeling during the national anthem. And he's not going to take this commentary from his quarterback.
