Saints Promote Former Texas Star WR Lil'Jordan Humphrey to 53-Man Roster
By Jerry Trotta

Drew Brees' freak thumb injury has taken the spotlight, and rightfully so, but the New Orleans Saints are also dealing with their fair share of ailments to their wide receiving corps.
Keith Kirkwood was placed on Injured Reserve Tuesday with a hamstring injury and Tre'Quan Smith left Sunday's clash agains the Los Angeles Rams with an ankle injury. Furthermore, veteran slot man Austin Carr, serving as a rotational player, is dealing with his own undisclosed ailment.
Desperate for reinforcements, the Saints have promoted rookie pass catcher Lil'Jordan Humphrey from their practice squad to the 53-man roster.

Signed by New Orleans earlier this summer as an undrafted free agent out of Texas, Humphrey impressed during the preseason.
The Saints are hoping that the former Longhorn's experience in the slot will help fill the void created by Kirkwood landing on the shelf.

In 2018 with Texas, Humphrey was an absolute stud, reeling in 86 receptions for 1176 yards, good for a mind-boggling 13.7 YPC, to go with nine touchdowns.
Much of that production, however, was done against Big 12 defenses, so it remains to be seen if his talent will translate to the NFL.
