Saints Release RB Zach Zenner in Clear Indication Alvin Kamara Should Return Sunday
By Adam Weinrib
When you're this willing to lose running back depth, there has to be some reasoning behind it.
Though the New Orleans Saints only have a single blemish on their ledger this year and probably don't need to go all out to secure a win this week right before the bye (and Drew Brees' return?), it appears Alvin Kamara will come back after only one week down.
Zach Zenner, best of luck, but the Saints are moving on.
During New Orleans' dominant Week 7 win on the road in Chicago, Zenner rushed...once, and accumulated one yard. The very definition of a cameo.
All this really means is that Kamara must not only be a full go mentally, but has to feel 100% (otherwise, this is reckless endangerment in a non-competitive game ahead of the bye). The Saints are the class of the NFC, and are about to flex their muscles, sending their third-stringer to the scrap heap.
Of course, New Orleans has proven time and again that they can cruise to victory, no matter the personnel.
It's probably best that one of the league's most exciting stars feels springy after a week off.
