Sean Payton Diagramming Saints' Offensive Plays on Twitter is the Bright Side of Quarantine
By Scott Rogust
The NFL single-handedly took over the sports world for the past couple of weeks with the influx of free agency news. With updates dwindling, fans are craving to obtain some sort of content until the NFL Draft next month.
Good news, folks! New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton has everyone covered. After being fully cleared from his coronavirus diagnosis, Payton decided to give football diehards on Twitter a treat by diagramming some of the Saints' offensive plays.
Individuals who love the X's and O's owe Payton a huge "thank you." You never see an NFL head coach sharing the details of their playbook for millions to see, but Payton was in a giving mood during this time of uncertainty.
Hell, he even elaborated the terms the Saints use on certain play calls, such as tight splits. Spoiler: they're names of sandwiches.
But with this generosity comes a risk other NFL teams and players are scrolling through Payton's feed and taking notes. Like free agent safety Tony Jefferson, for example.
There's always the risk of coaches, players and scouts memorizing Payton's tidbits, especially the division-rival Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Carolina Panthers and Atlanta Falcons, but Payton doesn't care. This offense is always evolving and we're sure he'll come up with other cadences to draw defenses off.
