Saints Probably Just Won the NFL Offseason With Snoop Dogg Video Conference Cameo
By Sam Dunn
Pete Carroll probably thinks he's such hot stuff, what with bringing in guys like Will Ferrell and Steve Kerr for surprise appearances on the Seattle Seahawks' video conference calls as part of their virtual offseason program. Well, don't crown the man just yet, because Sean Payton one-upped him in the biggest, baddest way.
The New Orleans Saints head coach told NFL Network's Kay Adams that he brough in a true all-time legend to make a special cameo in Thursday's virtual team meeting: Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr., better known as Snoop Dogg.
"He was outstanding," Payton said, explaining that Snoop expressed a respect for all the moving parts an athlete has to respect in terms of his team, his organization, and his league.
Football was the case that they gave him.
There's only one potential drawback here: the younger guys on the Saints roster might have no idea just how titanic a presence Snoop has been in popular music for the last three decades. His debut record went quadruple-platinum. He was all over "The Chronic." I mean, have these kids even seen low-quality YouTube clips of "Doggy Fizzle Televizzle" on MTV?
If the answer is no... for shame.
Oh, so MJ is coming onto the team Zoom call next, huh? (LOL, no. He is not.)
At the very least, Payton is doing the right thing in making sure his guys absolutely know their history and respect the greats.
