Sam Darnold Expressed a Shred of Confidence Ahead of Patriots Matchup and Now Jets Will Lose by 100

Someday in the distant future, when Bill Belichick is still coaching and Tom Brady's son has taken over under center, perhaps young quarterbacks gearing up to face the Patriots will just stay quiet in the days prior to kickoff.
Perhaps they'll learn from the mistakes of guys like Sam Darnold, who boldly chose to display confidence ahead of the Jets' game against their undefeated division rivals, practically writing their now-inevitable loss on Monday Night Football in stone.
"They're not unbeatable," said Darnold. "So we've just got to go out there, find the weakness in the defense and keep working it."
It's incredibly bold talk for a young quarterback playing on a 1-4 team that now has the tall task of defeating a Patriots defense that has allowed a paltry eight points per game. For lack of a better way to put it, it's just unwise to test fate like that.
As a 22-year-old first-round draft pick, you do not approach the Patriots with any semblance of confidence. You approach them with the humility of a sinner asking for forgiveness from a vengeful God.
You pray that they have mercy on you. This is especially pertinent if you are the quarterback of the Jets, arguably the team most hated by the entire roster in New England.
Belichick will not hesitate to humiliate the Jets on either side of the ball, and talking up any type of conifdence is only asking for trouble.
The first rule of playing the Patriots is to never give them any type of bulletin board material. If you do, your fate is sealed.
