Jets fans had every right to be excited when they found out that Sam Darnold would likely be on the field for the first time since Week 1 against the Eagles this Sunday, but the New York QB's latest quote regarding his return from mono might leave any and all NFL fans nonplussed.
And a bit concerned.
Although Darnold's absence has given us a light-hearted, graphic meme, the Jets should be extremely cautious in bringing him back too soon. An enlarged spleen can burst if it's impacted too hard-- not to mention that the contagious nature of mononucleosis isn't ideal for a locker room setting.

The second-year quarterback is practicing, but is not yet cleared for contact; medical clearance seems to be the final roadblock in Darnold's path back to the field. While the Jets are desperate for an offense, they have to play it safe and make sure all is well internally.

It's a legitimately good sign that the USC product is able to practice again, but with only three more days until the Week 5 matchup, the whole situation still feels a little uneasy.
