Sammy Sosa Claims He's Ready to End His Wrigley Field Exile

Sammy Sosa, more than a decade-and-a-half removed from his playing days at Wrigley Field, claims it's now time for the icy relationship between he and the Chicago Cubs to come to an end.

Sosa has been on uncertain terms with the Cubs organization since the end of his playing days. On one hand, he claims he is still a fan of the franchise, but team chairman Tom Ricketts is still reluctant to welcome him back to the friendly confines until he admits his PED usage.

The right fielder did test positive to steroids in 2003, several years after his legendary home run duel with fellow alleged PED user Mark McGwire. However, in 2016, MLB commissioner Rob Manfred did say that the test was inconclusive, with the comment directed at Hall of Fame voters who are still unsure whether to include the Cubs legend among other Cooperstown inductees.

Sosa has lived in Miami with his wife, former Dominican TV star Sonia Rodríguez, since he retired after the 2007 season with the Texas Rangers. A lot has changed with the Cubs franchise since he played, with the club having won their first World Series title in 108 years in 2016. Sosa was apart of the 2003 team that infamously lost to the Florida Marlins in the NLCS thanks to Steve Bartman.

And while Sosa hasn't been perfect, I thing many would agree that it's fair to wish the .273 slugger a happy reunion on the North Side.
