Scorching Kirk Cousins MVP Case Backed up by Comparison Stats vs Aaron Rodgers

It's utterly mind-blowing how quickly narratives can change in the NFL. Remember earlier in the year when Kirk Cousins' contract was being satirized as one of the worst in league history?

Once upon a time, or through four weeks of the 2019 season, the Minnesota Vikings aerial attack ranked at the bottom of the league in virtually every statistical category. Heck, even star wideouts Stefon Diggs and Adam Thielen came out and publicly chastised their quarterback.

Something in the air, however, must have changed, as Cousins has turned the corner in a BIG way of late. In fact, Kirk's sheer eruption has catapulted his name into the MVP discussion and his numbers into the realm of Aaron freaking Rodgers.

While the Vikings QB has definitely turned the corner, his numbers are alarmingly skewed, due to the fact that his last three games came against the Giants, Eagles, and Lions, teams who all rank in the bottom 10 in the NFL in terms of passing yards allowed per game.

During that stretch, Cousins has completed 75.6% of his passes (68-of-90) for a whopping 976 yards, 10 touchdowns and just one interception. Again, that was all against pitiful secondary play.

Let's also remember that the Packers and head coach Matt LaFleur have featured a run-heavy offense thus far. Rodgers just so happened to blow up for six touchdowns this past weekend against the Raiders because he's that brilliant.

Don't let the statistics hoodwink you. Cousins will NOT win the MVP award and he has NOT been better than Rodgers.
