Scott Boras Comments on Josh Bell's Future in Pittsburgh
By Charles Nason

Pittsburgh Pirates' first baseman Josh Bell has emerged as one of the game's newest stars. Bell is still contractually controlled by the Pirates for the next three years, and it seems like we're closing in on the time for Pittsburgh to lock up their biggest star to an extension.
Well, Bell's agent Scott Boras agrees that it's time for the Pirates to show his client the money.
I talked to Scott Boras about Josh Bell and his future with the Pirates. Here’s what he had to say: https://t.co/FJDDicttRC

Boras cited that he believes Josh Bell is a rare talent in the MLB. He also mentioned his doubts of the Pirates actually shelling out the money to sign a potential franchise player. He made that comment on the basis of Pittsburgh historically passing on signing emerging stars to long-term deals.
It's safe to say that he's not wrong.
Over the years, Pittsburgh has proven that they are a bit reluctant to lock up these star players. Regardless of whether or not Boras' statement about the Pirates is in fact true, it's clear that they have struck gold with Bell.
Retweet this if you have Josh Bell winning the Home Run Derby tonight ? ? ?

Who knows what the future holds for Bell, and whether or not that future will be in a Pirates uniform. If Pittsburgh chooses to wait out the resigning process with Bell, Boras' statements will become more and more accurate.
Until that happens, we should all just bask in the glory of watching Josh Bell crush home runs. He deserves a big pay raise after his breakout campaign, but only time will tell if the Pirates are willing to pony up.
