Scott Boras Urges MLB to Start Spring Training Sooner Than June and Claims His Clients Are Ready
Plenty of rumors and plans have been floated around about the start of a 2020 MLB season. The common theme of said proposals is having players go to several central locations and isolating themselves in order to play a shortened season.
Agent Scott Boras represents some of the biggest names in the game and recently said his guys are ready to go. He is advocating for training to begin as soon as possible so players are back at full strength and can actually play a season.
Boras is pulling for a 30-day training program. Giving the players a second Spring Training is the first step toward actually playing games. Doing so would also prove to the public that what MLB is proposing is safe, as doctors can monitor and test the players and determine the next steps from there.
Boras wants to make sure games are played so he can get his cut of the money. That doesn't take away from his plan as it makes sense to let players begin training as soon as possible if there is any hope of a season.
As he says, the training program itself will reveal if a season is even possible.
