3 Seahawks Players Who Will Be Rookie of the Year Candidates in 2020

The Seattle Seahawks aren't Draft Twitter's favorite team, as they have a habit of selecting high-upside guys a few rounds earlier than most would have expected. However, that strategy has helped them become one of the most consistent winners in the NFL over the last decade, and they should be in line for another productive season in 2020 given their April haul. These three players all should see time right away, and they might end up in the Rookie of the Year conversation.

3. TE Colby Parkinson

The Seahawks picked two tight ends in 2020 between Parkinson and Stephen Sullivan, but the former Stanford star has the higher ceiling. The 6-7 Parkinson was essentially used as a big slot receiver at college, and that route-running ability and tremendous catch radius should make Russell Wilson very happy. Greg Olsen isn't guaranteeing you any production given his age, and Will Dissly's injury history is concerning, to say the least. If Parkinson learns the offense quickly, he could become one of the league's better receiving tight ends.

2. EDGE Darrell Taylor

Pete Carroll likes speed and length on defense, and those two traits can be found in bunches when looking at a premium athlete like Taylor, who racked up 16.5 sacks during his final two years in college. While he isn't a great run defender at this stage and he failed to make a leap in production from his junior year to his senior year, he can use his bend and explosion to get after the quarterback. He should see plenty of snaps early on, and might even challenge for double-digit sacks.

1. LB Jordyn Brooks

Very few expected Brooks to go in the first round, as his problems with deconstructing blocks and mixed reviews between the tackles are noticeable. However, this is a top-shelf athlete for the position that piled up an average of 90 total tackles per season at Texas Tech. Brooks can make plays from sideline to sideline, covers well, and can lay some wood on a ball carrier when he gets home. Between Brooks, Bobby Wagner, and KJ Wright, Seattle might have the best linebacking corps in the league.
