Seahawks Reportedly Adding Former Cowboys Assistant Sanjay Lal to Coaching Staff
By Michael Luciano

Even before Mike McCarthy took over in Dallas, the Cowboys made the puzzling decision to not retain wide receivers coach Sanjay Lal for the 2020 season, despite the fact that only Tampa Bay got more production from the wide receiver position.
Lal has reportedly landed on his feet, however, getting a new gig in Seattle, where Pete Carroll hired him as an assistant to offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer. The pair worked together on the Indianapolis Colts staff in 2017.
#Seahawks are expected to add Sanjay Lal to the coaching staff, and he’ll assist offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer on that side of the ball in some capacity. Schotty and Sanjay worked together in Indy (WR coach, 2017). Sanjay was Dallas’ WR coach the last two years.

Lal was known for his work with wide receivers at stops with the Raiders, Jets, Bills and Colts.
What should get Seahawks fans pumped about this hire was the fact that Lal was in charge of creating the third down game plan for the Cowboys last season. With Lal running things, only Patrick Mahomes and the Super Bowl champion Chiefs converted third downs at a higher rate than Dallas.
Interesting note on Sanjay Lal's specific focus while with the Cowboys https://t.co/vtK5YykJTg https://t.co/J9nOzVKaZ1 pic.twitter.com/HbUPEY7AT5

Lal's departure from Dallas was extremely surprising given how effective Dallas was at wide receiver this season. If he's able to help DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett take the next step like he did with Amari Cooper and Michael Gallup, the sky is the limit for the the Seahawks offense.
