This Seahawks-Bears Trade for Mitch Trubisky Could Give Russell Wilson a Trustworthy Back-Up
The future isn't looking too bright for young quarterback Mitchell Trubisky with the Chicago Bears. After Ryan Pace went out and traded for Super Bowl-winning signal caller Nick Foles, Trubisky's starting job in the Windy City is all but gone.
The team also declined his fifth-year option. So, how about a move to Seattle to help get his career on track? It's a trade that would benefit both sides.
As things stand in Seattle, the Hawks only have two quarterbacks on the roster: franchise QB Russell Wilson and rookie undrafted free agent signing Anthony Gordon. While Gordon is coming off a historic season at Washington State, will Pete Carroll feel confident having him as the No. 2 signal caller behind Wilson? Probably not.
So, bringing in a guy like Trubisky to learn from Wilson and be a solid back-up option would be a wise move for Seattle. Plus, the North Carolina product wouldn't be expensive to bring in. Should John Schneider and Co. put a fourth-round pick in the 2021 draft on the table, it would be enough to complete a deal.
Trubisky never lived up to the hype as a first-round pick. However, that doesn't mean he can't make an impact on a team next season. It won't be with Chicago, so why not Seattle?
