Seahawks CB Kalan Reed Suffers Likely Career-Ending Neck Injury

You never know when your time is up as a professional athlete, and for Seattle Seahawks cornerback Kalan Reed, his NFL career is likely over.
According to Ian Rapoport of NFL.com, Reed suffered a neck injury that not only placed him on injured reserve, but will put his entire livelihood in jeopardy. Reed hurt his third and fourth vertebrae, which led to numbing and will put him at serious risk if he tries to play again.

The 25-year-old corner was drafted in the seventh round by the Tennessee Titans in 2016. He found himself on the injured reserve list during the preseason in 2018 that later led to him being waived.
Reed was then signed to Seattle's practice squad in October and was then re-signed after the season.

In seven career games with the Titans over two seasons, Reed tallied just one combined tackle and one pass defended.
The Seahawks secondary depth shouldn't be too impacted by this news, but it is on a somber note for Reed, who was fighting for a roster spot on a crowded Seattle defense.
