The spread of the coronavirus has resulted in the hiatus of sports, causing the NBA, XFL and NHL to suspend their seasons and the MLB to delay Opening Day. Since the NFL is currently in their offseason, the regular season has not yet been pushed back due to COVID-19 considering it doesn't start until September. However, if things get worse, they may have no choice.

The home of the Seattle Seahawks, CenturyLink Field, is being converted into a hospital amid the coronavirus outbreak. As the venue will be soon be housing the sick, this is not a good sign for the NFL season considering other stadiums may have to do the same if this continues.

The Unites States Corps of Engineers will be heading to Washington to assess facilities, with one of them being CenturyLink Field. They are sending 300 soldiers to transform the CenturyLink Field Event Center into a 150-bed hospital. Patients would not be housed directly on the field.

This is being done to avoid overrunning hospitals, which has increasingly become a problem across the US given the abrupt spike in cases in recent weeks.

So while the NFL seems to think operations will continue as is while the country is on quarantine, it appears as if those plans could be severely affected if more venues are used to cope with the overcrowding of hospitals due to COVID-19.
