Seahawks DL Jarran Reed Suspended 6 Games for 2017 Incident
By Parker White
The Seattle Seahawks will be without one of their top defensive players to begin the 2019 season, as defensive lineman Jarran Reed has been suspended six games after violating the NFL's personal conduct policy from an incident back in 2017, when he was accused of assaulting a female.
Reed's appeal of the suspension was denied Friday morning, and though he's been working his way back from an offseason hernia surgery, he's now out for several regular season games.
This is a very interesting development, considering Reed was not charged or arrested. Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Tyreek Hill was cleared of a suspension by the league just this past week, determining a lack of evidence in his child abuse case.
So, with this decision, the NFL is proving that you don't need to be charged or arrested to get suspended, and yet, Hill goes free.
This is a huge loss for the Seahawks defense, especially after the trade of fellow defensive lineman Frank Clark this offseason.
In 16 games last season, Reed tallied 50 tackles and 10.5 sacks.
On top of this suspension, Reed is recovering from offseason hernia surgery back in April. With the injury and now the suspension, can Seattle rely on Reed to have a positive impact on their defensive unit this season?
