Seahawks Down to One Healthy Running Back After Chris Carson and CJ Prosise Exit Week 16 Game
By Karl Rasmussen
Well, things really could not get much worse for the Seahawks' ground game right about now.
After losing Rashaad Penny to IR a couple weeks ago, Seattle was already shallow in the backfield heading into their Week 16 clash with the Cardinals.
Things took an even bigger dive when not one, but TWO more running backs went down on Sunday. Both Chris Carson and CJ Prosise were knocked around against the Cards in the first half.
Carson suffered a hip injury in the first half of play and is considered questionable to return. Meanwhile, Prosise has been ruled out with an arm injury.
The loss of Carson and Prosise leaves the Seahawks with just one healthy running back on the 53-man roster: Travis Homer.
Homer, a sixth-round pick in 2019 out of Miami, has featured on special teams in all 16 games this season. He's logged just three carries for 36 yards, but has otherwise not recorded a stat.
The 21-year-old was probably not even expecting to see an offensive snap on Sunday. Now, all of a sudden, he finds himself as the lead option for a crippled backfield chasing the one-seed. Best of luck!
