Seahawks Fans Are Freaking Out After Yannick Ngakoue Posts Airport Photo That Looks Like Seattle
By Brady Williams
Yannick Ngakoue has refused to sign a long-term contract with the Jacksonville Jaguars, but was subsequently franchise tagged by the organization. While the tag was an indication that Ngakoue would be playing his 2020 campaign for the Jags, he's voiced his desire to continue his career elsewhere. Well, the disgruntled DE's latest Instagram story has some fans talking about a potential landing spot for Ngakoue.
Early Thursday morning, Ngakoue shared an image of him at an airport, which some Seattle locals claim to recognize as SeaTac. This would corroborate reports heard by The Athletic's Stephen Cohen that Ngakoue is in the area.
Ngakoue had 36 solo tackles in 2019 and eight sacks. He's an instant defensive starter for any team he goes to, and that kind of consistency would be perfect for Seattle. With Jadeveon Clowney's future still up in the air, they'll need the kind of support in the trenches Ngakoue can provide.
Fans seem to be running with the rumors, too.
Ngakoue didn't do much to quell the reports, either. The 24-year-old defensive end followed up the airport image with an eagle emoji and "... VULTURE" written over top of it.
The vague posts aren't a lot to go on, but the airport's resemblance to SeaTac has some fans ready declare him a Seahawk.
Might be a bit premature, but who knows, that may be the kind of confidence the Seahawks need when it comes to negotiations.
Others are just confused by all of the bird talk. With multiple franchises using some form of bird as their mascot, there are a wide array of landing spots the DE could be hinting at. But amid reports he's in Seattle, despite the fact teams are prohibited from hosting players until March 31, fans think he's heading to the Emerald City.
The Seahawks have the most evidence to back things up, but at this point, he could go anywhere. We'll all just wait in suspense while Seattle fans cross their fingers.
