Some disheartening news surfaced on Monday night concerning one of the most distinguished special teams weapons in the history of the Seattle Seahawks organization.
Former longtime Seahawks punter Jon Ryan revealed that he was recently diagnosed with skin cancer on his neck. The 38-year-old's surgery has been postponed due to the outbreak of the coronavirus, though the operation isn't considered to be urgent.

Ryan, who currently plays for the Saskatchewan Roughriders of the Canadian Football League, disclosed the news during an appearance on the "Growing the Game" podcast over the weekend.
The former NFL veteran recently underwent a full body scan at his annual dermatologist meeting and the results revealed an unnatural blemish on his neck. Ryan had been aware of the scab and attempted to freeze it off last year. However, it grew back even bigger and it was diagnosed as skin cancer.
Ryan's wife, comedian Sarah Colonna, took to Twitter after the news broke to confirm that the cancerous mark is contained to that spot and he will be alright once it's removed.
He’s going to be totally fine- thank you all for the nice thoughts - Luckily he gets his skin checked yearly and after they remove the spot he will be all good, it is contained to that spot.

That's fantastic news.
Ryan is expected to make a full recovery after surgery, and our thoughts and prayers go out to his loved ones during this time.
