NFL Insider Claims Seahawks Are Very Likely to Bring Josh Gordon Back
By Scott Rogust
The Seattle Seahawks have been in the news lately, due mostly to being linked to controversial wide receiver Antonio Brown. Reports last week indicated that quarterback Russell Wilson would "love" if the Seahawks' front office signed Brown to help bolster their receiving corps.
But according to NFL insider John Clayton, there's a "5% chance" that Seattle extends a contract offer to AB. While revealing Brown's odds of being a Seahawk, Clayton also said there's an "85% chance" that Seattle will opt to re-sign Josh Gordon.
While Gordon has higher odds of inking a deal with the Seahawks than Brown, there are still hurdles for him to face.
Gordon was suspended indefinitely for violating the league's performance-enhancing drug and substance abuse policy for the fifth time in his career back in December. He recently reapplied for reinstatement and expects to be back by the start of training camp. There is hope for Gordon to be allowed back into the league, considering commissioner Roger Goodell recently reinstated defensive end Aldon Smith.
Adding Gordon makes sense for the Seahawks, considering he has familiarity with the team's playbook. After being claimed off waivers last season from the New England Patriots, Gordon caught 7-of-11 targets for 139 yards in five games. While those numbers didn't light up the league, the wideout showed he was building up a rapport with Wilson before he was slapped with the indefinite ban.
Even with waiting for reinstatement, Gordon is more likely to be a Seahawk in 2020 than Brown.
