Seahawks Must Bring Back Josh Gordon After He Teases Seattle Return on Instagram
By Jerry Trotta
Rumor has it that free agent wide receiver Josh Gordon is eyeing (another) NFL return as he works his way back from an indefinite suspension. The 29-year-old talent spent time with the New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks in 2019, but was suspended in mid-December for violating the substance abuse policy.
Well, it would appear that Gordon is hinting at a potential reunion with the Seahawks, as he posted a not-so cryptic Instagram that featured him getting in a workout in the Seattle area. If Gordon's intentions are genuine, the franchise shouldn't think twice about bringing him back.
Of course, this is assuming that the former All-Pro is reinstated by the NFL, and that's not necessarily a given. The league might have ratified a new collective bargaining agreement -- which has a more lenient drug policy -- but Gordon, given that he is a past offender, will have to follow the old guidelines.
In seven games as Seattle's No. 3 wideout, the eight-year pro posted seven receptions for 139 yards. Those numbers won't jump off the page, but he was adjusting to a new offense. It's worth noting that Gordon made enough strides to the point where quarterback Russell Wilson trusted him in high-pressure situations.
The Baylor product would add to an already deep receiving corps that features Tyler Lockett, DK Metcalf and Phillip Dorsett. Throw Gordon into the mix and you have one of the best in the league.
