Seahawks Offensive Line Needs to Get it Together or Else Seattle is Dead

The Seattle Seahawks got dominated up front by the 5-9-1 Arizona Cardinals this past Sunday. The mobile Russell Wilson took five sacks and the offense managed 91 rushing yards on 20 carries. Ouch.

The result was a 27-13 loss and more bad news came out after the game regarding offensive tackle Duane Brown, who was already inactive.

The 13-point performance was a disaster for a Seahawks team fighting for a bye in the NFC playoffs. Wilson's mobility prevented what could have been an even worse day in terms of sacks.

Seattle is so decimated by injuries that Marshawn Lynch and Robert Turbin have been signed to help in the running game. They are going to need a ton of help from the line starting this Sunday against Nick Bosa and the San Francisco 49ers.

The Seahawks defense allows nearly 25 points per game. That means help is needed from the offense. Everything starts with the play of the offensive line. If the Seahawks can't run the ball, that means more passes. And more passes means more blitzes and potential for sacks and negative plays.

A matchup with the 49ers is already tough enough. A loss drops the Seahawks to the No. 5 seed and sets up a road playoff game against either Philadelphia or Dallas. That may not sound tough for a team of Seattle's caliber, but the loss against Arizona exposed the cracks.

Re-signing Lynch is an exciting move. Yet it won't matter if the line doesn't get it together starting this Sunday.
